Nigerians have been urged to tolerate the recurring borrowings and negotiations as they are temporary and aimed at delivering the rail system, roads and power to boost national development.
The Federal Government which made the appeal yesterday in Washington DC also said the investment would generate economic activities, jobs and revenue which would be used to pay back the debts. It assured Nigerians that the administration was very prudent about debts and would not borrow recklessly or bequeath unserviceable debts to them.

The Southern Leaders Forum (SLF) yesterday condemned the alleged directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to the President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, that the institution should concentrate on northern Nigeria.

Kim had said: “You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari, he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we’ve done that. Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very difficult.”

Goalkeeper of Niger Tornadoes, Aliko Mustapha stopped two spot kicks, including one, which went wide off his goal, but his teammates failed to take advantage of his heroics.

Andrew Ikefe missed the vital spot kick, which would have sealed the win for his side, pushing the shoot out into sudden death where Akwa United emerged victorious when Olorunleke Ojo saved his first spot kick of the evening.
