BREAKING: FINALLY Atiku announces return to PDP [Full Video]

Former vice president Abubakar Atiku has announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Atiku made the announcement in a Facebook live video on Sunday, December 3 afternoon.

He said: "Today, I want to let you know that I am returning home to the PDP." Atiku said his decision to leave the PDP was because the party strayed but now he is back because the APC too has strayed from the exciting promises it made in its manifesto.

He said:"I left the PDP when I thought it was no aligned with the principles of equity, democracy and social justice upon which we had founded it. "I joined the APC and hoped it would be the new force that would help improve life of our people.

I was excited at the party’s manifesto to create three million new jobs but the change did not come. "In the last two years, about three million people have lost their jobs." Atiku also took credit for the growth of Nigeria's mobile telephone industry. According to him, his office as vice president in 1999 was charged with growing the telecoms industry and it did.

Atiku said: “When I was vice president in 1999, I was responsible for liberalising the economy, particularly the telecoms sector which enabled us to increase the number of people who could access the phone then from below one million to over a hundred million today. “This transformation resulted in the creation of thousands of new jobs, from the top-up card vendors you see on every street corner to the many new industries that fed off the phone revolution."
