The National Judicial Council has rejected Justice Adeniy Ademola’s purported notice of retirement saying he has already been recommended for compulsory retirement.
The council took the decision on Wednesday at its 84th Meeting presided over by Chief Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen.

The Council said in a statement last night that Justice Ademola was recommended for retirement along with Justice O. O. Tokode for misconduct. They are both judges of the Federal High Court.
The council therefore urged the public to disregard news reports that Justice Ademola has voluntarily retired. “The purported voluntary retirement is clearly an afterthought as Council had taken action before his decision to forward any voluntary retirement letter,” NJC said in a statement by its Director of Information, Soji Oye.
“...Justice Ademola who had forwarded his notice of retirement on  October 10, 2017 to the Council against  April 9, 2018, when he will attain the mandatory retirement age of 65 years was recommended for compulsory retirement from office to President Muhammadu Buhari, pursuant to the findings by the Council on the allegation contained in the petition written against him by a group of 8 persons under the name of Committee of Anambra State PDP House of Representatives Members-Elect alleging His Lordship of the following:-
“That His Lordship heard their Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/177/2015 which was adjourned for judgement on 25th March, 2015;
“That on the adjourned date, His Lordship did not deliver the judgement but adjourned the case sine die, to await the decision of the Supreme Court on another matter on the same issue, on the list of PDP candidates for Anambra State for the General Elections of 2015;

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, yesterday, adopted President Muhammadu Buhari as their candidate for the 2019 general elections.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said this in a statement.

He said the party leaders also expressed their support for Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as their sole governorship candidate for 2019.
He however noted that Buhari neither said he accepted nor declined the endorsement in his speech even after the party leaders had promised to procure the nomination forms for him and threatened to sue if he declined the said endorsement.
Shehu said President Buhari only smiled and went on to underscore the need for unity in the party and among the diverse people of Nigeria.
The APC stakeholders meeting, held on the sidelines of the president’s state visit to Kano, was attended by Governor Ganduje, his deputy, Professor Hafizu Abubakar, the state chairman and the members of the state and national executive committees of the party from Kano State.
Also in attendance were two of the state’s senators; members of the House of Representatives from the state; the speaker and 34 of the 40 members of the State House of Assembly and the 44 party chairmen, their deputies and local government area secretaries of the party.
Others were Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State and other leaders of the party in the state.
The State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Inuwa Abbas, hinged their endorsement of the president on his achievements in the last two years especially in the fields of security, the war against corruption and the restructuring of the economy.

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have promised to procure nomination forms for 2019 presidential election for President Muhammadu Buhari and threatened to sue him if he declines.
Malam Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesman, in a statement in Abuja, said the APC leaders made the promise at a meeting held on the margins of the President’s state visit to Kano on Thursday.

He said that the leaders adopted President Buhari as their candidate for the 2019 general elections, saying they also expressed commitment and support to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje as their sole candidate for 2019.
According to him, the State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Inuwa Abbas, hinged the endorsement of the president on his achievements in the last two years, especially in the fields of security, the war against corruption and the restructuring of the economy.
Abbas said: “Security is important for everyone, not just for Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
‘‘It’s even more so for us as a commercial and industrial state.
”We are convinced that you are best for these times when the country has begun to muster energy and resources to develop agriculture, infrastructure and empower the younger citizens.’’
On a humorous note, Gov. Ganduje said the party was prepared to drag the President to court to force his acceptance of the second term ticket.
In his response, Buhari  noted the need to sanitise party politics by ridding it of vote buying and violence.
“What I saw in the elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Rivers, the use of money and those headless bodies really upset me. I don’t wish to see that anywhere.
“I would not have won if money and killing was the modus operandi. That is my view of politics,” the president said.
Shehu stated that, “President Buhari did not say he accepted, nor did he decline to accept the endorsement in his speech even after the party leaders promised to procure the nomination forms for him and threatened to sue if he declined the gesture."

The Concerned Alliance of the Nigerian Youth (CANYF) North-East of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted Alhaji Aliyu Musa Usman Manji as its candidate for the deputy national chairmanship position of the party.
The group with stakeholders from North east said their decision to endorse Manji as the sole candidate of Nigerian youths among other contestants from the north-east was in the interest of Nigerians especially the youths.

A statement signed by the National Coordinator CANYF Dr Marwanu Aji Muhammad and Secretary Mr Yunana Joseph Aboki said they are striving to ensure that it has strengthen and reposition the PDP in the zone despite the previous defeat the party suffered and consequent neglect by many leaders of the party after the 2015 general elections.

The group advised other candidates to step down for him to liberate the party from imminent crisis and political backwardness ahead of Friday’s national convention of the party in Abuja.

According to them the endorsement of Alhaji Manji is to give a clear message to the teeming supporters of the party across the country and beyond that North-east Youths are tired of stagnant leadership of those not ready to allow the political evolution and direction for the PDP in the North.
