PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law three bills including the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy (Establishment) Bill, 2017; Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2017 and National Intelligence Agency Pensions (Establishment) Bill, 2017.
 
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina in Abuja on Wednesday, the president assented to the bills on Tuesday.

Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy to be sited in Enugu, is to provide courses of instruction leading to the award of degrees, diplomas and certificates in dental technology, dental therapy and related courses.

Air Force Institute of Technology of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill to be situated in Kaduna, is to give technical training  to the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and other services of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigerians and citizens of other African countries.

National Intelligence Agency Pensions is to administer the pensions scheme for personnel of the Agency, sequel to the exit of the Agency from the application of the Contributory Pension’s Scheme under the Pension’s Reform Act, 2004.

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Kano on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to the state.
 
Buhari was received at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the State Executive Council, Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, traditional rulers as well as politicians, among others.

A mammoth crowd was also at the airport and along the major streets in the metropolis, giving the president a rousing welcome.

The President is expected to inaugurate a number of projects executed by the Ganduje administration during the visit.

Among the projects are the ultra-modern Specialist Hospital, Giginyu, named after him and a Paediatric Hospital located on Zoo Road, Kano, and the underpass bridge at Madobi/Panshekara Junction.

On the second day, the President will inspect a rice mill, Fullmark Rice Mill Company at Kwanar Gunduwawa, and Gezawa Oil Mill, the largest oil mill in Africa at Tokarawa Industrial Estate both on Hadeja Road.

Buhari is also expected to meet with Ulamas and hold an interactive session with community leaders and politicians before returning to Abuja.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has pardoned 500  inmates of the Kurmawa Central Prisons in Kano metropolis as part of Federal Government’s efforts to decongest prisons.
