BREAKING: EFCC arraigns Prof Anthony Elujoba for alleged corruption

A former acting vice-chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Prof Anthony Elujoba has been dragged before an Osun state High Court, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged corruption.

One of the charges the EFCC brought against the former VC was in relation to the disbursement of over N1 billion to pay workers, Punch reports. However, workers of the university thronged the court premises to show support for Anthony Elujoba.

Among those who were present at the court hearing were the incumbent vice chancellor, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede, and leaders of workers’ unions. The workers praised Elujoba who they said restored peace and sanity to the university when the tenure of Prof. Bamitale Omole expired amidst protests by workers.

Meanwhile, human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has said the Senate should shelve all plans to remove the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu. He, however, said the Senate can have its way when Senate President Bukola Saraki becomes the acting President, Punch reports. We gathered that Falana said this in a statement on Thursday July 6. The senior advocate maintained that the acting Chairman of the EFCC did not need the confirmation of the Senate
