BAUCHI State Government has proposed the sum of N168 billion as its 2018 budget.

While presenting the Appropriation Bill tagged ‘Budget of Consolidation’ to the State House of Assembly, on Thursday, the State Governor stated that the budget is comprising of Recurrent Expenditure of N69 billion or 41% while Capital Expenditure receives the sum of N100 billion or 59%.

The governor added that priority areas of the budget are Health, Education, Agriculture, Water Supply, Youth and Women Empowerment as well as Infrastructural Development.

He further said that the 2018 Budget has been predicated on the assumptions of an oil production of 2.3million barrels per day; a benchmark oil price of US$45.00 per barrel; an exchange rate of N305 to US Dollar and a robust and efficient system of internally generated revenue collection.

He also said that government has in the course of the preparation of the 2018 Budget considered achieving a recurrent to capital expenditure ratio of between 40:60; creating efficiencies in personnel and overhead expenditure to allow greater resource for capital development; growing IGR by a minimum of at least 20% per annum and allowing 4% of revenue (CRF) for contingency reserve; while using loans for capital expenditure projects.

The governor said the budget targets long-term funding of all recurrent expenditure through revenue of a recurrent nature (IGR, VAT and Non-mineral component of Statutory Allocation) and all other sources of capital receipts and financing outside of loans (e.g. Aids and Grants, Private Public Partnership) etc.

PRESIDENTIAL spokesman, Garba Shehu, has urged those seeking an update on the condition of Yusuf, son of President Muhammadu Buhari who was injured in a power bike accident on Tuesday night, to allow the First Family to deal with its own problem.

The Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the President regretted the interference on the case of Yusuf who he said was not even a public officer.

Speaking to Saturday Tribune in Abuja on Friday, he said he had nothing new to offer on the condition of the president’s son because, since Tuesday, he had not been to the hospital where Yusuf was admitted.

He said he had not also spoken with anybody on Yusuf’s progress.

Shehu said: “The family should be allowed to manage their problem.

“He is not even a government employee, he is not an elected official.

“I have not gone there (hospital) since the day before yesterday and I am not talking to anyone about him.”
The Presidency had indicated on Wednesday that Yusuf was in stable condition in hospital following injuries he sustained in the accident.

The incident was said to have occurred while he was riding the bike around Gwarimpa area of Abuja.  He suffered a head injury and multiple limb fractures.
