Power outage being experienced in some parts of the country will soon extend to more parts of the country as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported another System Collapse at about 14.19 hours on Wednesday. The TCN General Manager, Public Affairs of the company, Tinah Mbah, stated this in Abuja on Wednesday. The Agency had also in a preliminary information from National Control Centre (NCC), indicated that the situation arose from the tripping of Odukpani-Ikot Ekpene 330kV line, which cut off generation from Odukpani Power Station to the grid. The TCN, which stated this in a statement made available on Wednesday, further explained that the restoration of the grid has reached an advanced stage. It added that it has also commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the system disturbance, saying that the outcome of the probe will be publicised. The TCN noted that the system disturbance happened at a time when work on the Western Gas Pipeline by the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) caused system collapse at about 21.17 hours which is yet to be completed. According to the TCN, the grid would have withstood the Odukpani infraction if generation along Lagos region were available. The NGC also disclosed that a contractor has been mobilised to reconstruct the affected segment of the Western Gas Pipeline, so that gas supply to Omotosho, Egbin, and Olorunsogo I and II can be restored.

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday sealed off a Petrol Filling Station, an Hotel and Event Centre belonging to a suspected Badoo cult kingpin, Alhaji Alaka Abayomi Kamal. The structures, situated along Ijebu-Ode-Itoikin Road in Sabo area of Ikorodu were sealed for violating the State’s Urban and Regional Planning Law of 2010. The Police, had on December 22, 2017, declared Alaka wanted in connection with series of well-orchestrated killings and nefarious activities of the Badoo cult group in Ikorodu and Epe area of the state. Alaka is believed to be the ring leader of the Badoo menace. In a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, the state government said the order sealing off the structures was in pursuant to Section 60 of the said Law. The Daily Times recalls that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Imohimi Edgal, on Tuesday, paraded a Badoo kingpin arrested in Ikorodu axis who confessed to the killings and took Police to their shrine in Imosan, a suburb of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State where the group’s chief herbalist, Fatai Adebayo was arrested. When the history of Nigeria’s highly competitive banking industry is written, one bank whose place in history cannot be glossed over is Fidelity Bank Plc. The entry of Fidelity as it is popularly called by its numerous customers both in Nigeria and elsewhere across the world, though gradual, has grown like the oak tree, stamping its unique authority and statement on the Nigerian, business (banking) terrain. With a chain of branch networks spread across the country, Fidelity has today emerged as one of investors’ brides- emerging to its ecstatic stakeholders and an envy of its peers. Indeed, the human factor played a key role in its recent growth. The emergence of the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, who, with a strong finance background combined this potential to effectively manage the bank’s human and material resources together, attest to this giant stride. Okonkwo is being assisted by equally highly cerebral and professional top shot, like Muhammed Balarade, Deputy Managing Director, among others. Today, the young man, in spite of the vicissitude of life he had faced in the course of this tasking job, is popularly described as a banking wizard. Okonkwo is not one to be carried away by his long list of achievements. He remained committed to growing the bank, its customer base, bouquet of products offering and its customer base. He knows he is in a race to win when he was appointed as the helmsman of the bank.
