The federal government has declared Friday, 30th March and Monday 2nd April, 2018 as Public holidays to mark the Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, enjoined Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to employ the spiritual ethos of Easter, which he said include love, peace, and sacrifice, in contributing to the unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
In a statement signed Tuesday by director overseeing the office of the Permanent Secretary Mrs. Julie Nkiru Ejiofor, said Gen. Dambazau also urged Nigerians to remain supportive of the government  of President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
He implored all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

Ahead of the 2019 general election, a group, the Amalgamated Igbo Political Pressure Group (AIPPG)  has given the nod to the candidature of former governor of Kano state, Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In a statement signed by its National coordinator, Lady Rosemary Ukiwe and National secretary, Hon Romanus Azubuike respectively, the group noted that they were convinced that the former Kano state governor has the right credentials to move Nigeria forward .
The group stated further that the laudable achievements of Sen Kwankwaso in Kano as the chief executive of the state was unprecedented.
“After careful consultation and screening of all the available aspirants from the North for 2019 election we have come to the conclusion that Sen Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso  is the most suitable person for the president of Nigeria”
It stated that the country needs an experienced politician and capable hand to take the nation out of the doldrums, adding that Kwankwaso’s legislative and executive experience would be an asset to the democratic and economic development of the country.
The group described Kwankwaso as a bridge between the young and the old arguing that Nigeria needs a young leader with energy to turn things around..

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the main opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) to confess the sins it committed against the country before asking Nigerians for forgiveness.

PDP had on Monday publicly apologised to the nation for its wrong and inaction over the years.
But responding in a statement Tuesday in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party need to come clean and confess it sins before apology.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) acknowledges the apologies by the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) for the damage the party has wrought on the country’s democratic fabric during its sixteen year rule.
“However, despite this belated grovelling apology, PDP will need to come clean, confess to their sins and fully atone for it, before restitution is considered.
“As they say, to err is human but forgiveness is divine. We join PDP in praying to God to forgive them, but Nigerianss are human who are still suffering from the years of PDP’s misrule.
“Therefore, even if Nigerians are gracious enough to forgive, they will not forget in a hurry.”
