BUY OR SELL OLD AND NEW CARS, PARTS, CAR MATERIALS AS CAR MART NG LAUNCH IN NIGERIA

The Gombe State governor, Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo, has declared his intention to run for president in the 2019 general election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. Dankwambo, who made his intention known yesterday during a meeting with the delegates of the party from the North East geopolitical zone, called for their support ahead of the party’s presidential primary election. At the meeting held at the new Banquet Hall of the Government House in Gombe State yesterday, the governor said consultations were ongoing on the need for the party to pick its candidate from the zone.

He said: “We have been making consultations and those consultations are ongoing. We felt, this time around, our zone should be given opportunity to conduct and preside over the affairs of the country.” “We have sent delegations to various zones so that they can have the taste of the North East this time. On that note, I think all of us in this room are on the same page. Since all of us are from the same zone, whoever is qualified to contest that position should be encouraged to contest.” He noted that power comes from God and when he has ordained a position of leadership for anyone, there is nothing anybody can do to alter it. Dankwambo, who is in his second and final term as governor, said whoever is seeking the position of president must show he has the capacity to the job.

“For us to do it, we must be able to showcase somebody that has done it before . Whoever is given the opportunity to contest for the position should be encouraged. “If the problem is security, you cannot say you will finish Boko Haram in three months when you have not done it before . If the problem is our economy , we have to be able to present a candidate that has worked on the economy . You cannot just sit down and say ‘I will resolve the problem of the economy now. “We need to present a candidate that has a template on what he has done on economy before . To resolve the problem of hunger in Nigeria is not (by just making) a statement.” He said he had come to consult with members of his party in his zone about his aspiration and to seek their support going forward.

“After a lot of consultation, my people felt we should consult with you , so that apart from other candidates from the zone that have indicated interest , I should also show interest, consult you and go round to seek support of other members of our great party,” he said. Speaking on the state of the party, Dankwambo said, “Our great party ,PDP, is undergoing a lot of reform. We are making the party more attractive. We are seeing people coming back to the party . For the people that are coming back , I want appeal to all of us, ‘Don’t close doors; let those who want to come be welcomed . Accept returnees with open hand and heart. Let us continue to support the National Working Committee of our great party in their reforms so that, one day, we will be where we were from 1999 to 2015.”

Despite Defections, PMB Will Win Landslide In Sokoto – Wamakko
Sun, 05 Aug 2018

Former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, said yesterday that despite the gale of defections that blew across the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, President Muhammadu Buhari will record landslide victory in the state at the 2019 presidential election.

The seat of the Caliphate was yesterday crammed with a mammoth crowd, as supporters of the former governor who is now a serving Senator thronged the state capital on his arrival from Abuja. Wamakko who arrived the Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111 International Airport Sokoto at about 1:45pm got to his residence at about 4:00pm as a result of the gridlock caused by his supporters along the airport road. Addressing the crowd, Senator Wamakko said his greatest happiness remains that the people of the state and Nigerians have come to know the truth about those that truly love the nation.

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”13566″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

He noted that the heroic welcome he got from the people of the state was a manifestation of the fact that the people of Sokoto, Northwest and all Nigerians still love Buhari, even as he assured that the president will win with a landslide victory come 2019. The former governor faulted the claim by his successor, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, that President Buhari has done nothing for the state, saying the whole world knows that the president holds Sokoto and Nigerians in high esteem.

Sen Nyako’s Defection And Evolving Adamawa Politics
Sun, 05 Aug 2018

x-rays the intrigues surrounding the defection of Senator Abdul-Azeez Nyako, representing Adamawa Central, from APC to ADC and then PDP. The defection wind blowing across the country has also blown, albeit mildly, in Adamawa State. The recent defection of Sen. Abdul-Azeez Nyako, representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) attests to the changing times in the state ahead of 2019. Nyako, son of the immediate past governor of the state, Murtala, had moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) two weeks ago.

The senator, who defected with Alhaji Rufai Umar, a member representing Gombi constituency in the House of Assembly, said they were compelled to leave APC with their supporters because of what he described as injustice meted on him and his supporters during the recent congresses of APC in the state. “Justice is the foundation for everything good and we want to enjoin ADC to ensure justice to all so that more people will come and join. I am hopeful and pray to God that this step taken will be better for us,” Abdul-Azzez said. In his remarks at the occasion the acting Chairman of ADC in the state, Alhaji Mijinyawa Kugama, said the party was committed to justice for all.

[better-ads type=”banner” banner=”13566″ campaign=”none” count=”2″ columns=”1″ orderby=”rand” order=”ASC” align=”center” show-caption=”1″][/better-ads]

“That’s why we are going to ensure that everyone is carried along in the party congress starting on July 24,” Kugama said. Kugama explained that the initial 700 membership cards given to each of the 21 local government areas of the state had been exhausted, adding that another batch of cards would be release. In his speech at the occasion, the National Secretary of ADC, Alhaji Saidu Baba-Abdullahi, expressed happiness over the development and assured all members of equal rights and justice. The grouse of the senator revolves largely around the outcome of the recent APC party congresses which didn’t favour him. This is against the backdrop that he is eyeing the governorship seat in the state in 2019.
