Sulyman, who made the appeal on Friday in Ilorin while speaking with journalists, said that only consensus option would prevent mole planted in APC from hijacking the party.

“It is better to adopt consensus in the selection of the governorship candidate to eliminate mole planted in APC.

“I know that not less than six of the aspirants in our party were planted to hijack APC.

He stressed that if the national secretariat of the party adopted consensus in the state, it would also remove any rancour that might arise from the indirect primary.

Sulyman, a lawyer and pioneer chairman of PDP in Kwara, said adopting consensus candidate would remove spending huge sums of money by aspirants.

The chieftain also appealed to elders and stakeholders of the party to join hands with him in appealing to the national officers to adopt a consensus candidate in the interest of the party.

Sulyman, however, said that in the event the consensus option failed, the national officers should fall back to direct primary, pleading that indirect primary should not be used.

“In direct primary, you don’t know who to buy with huge sums of money because all card-carrying members of the party are eligible to vote in direct primary.”

He said the APC Advisory Committee in Kwara which he was a member met severally with the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed where mode of the primary was discussed.

“At the meeting, we resolved that in the absence of consensus approach, direct primary should be adopted”.
