President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to the amended electoral bill.
The Cable reports that the president’s decision was made known by Ita Enang, senior special assistant to the president on national assembly (Senate), on Friday, December 7.
He said the president has communicated his decision to the National Assembly. Enang, however, said the president assented to the National University Commission Amendment Act.
The National Assembly had passed the bill in July and transmitted it to the president on August 3. The bill was rejected by the president and it was resent before being rejected again in September.
