Major events for Buhari’s inauguration hold June 12 – FG – Daily Trust

HomeNewsMajor events for Buhari’s inauguration hold June 12 – FG ADVERTISEMENT President Muhammadu Buhari The Federal Government yesterday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration for a second term on May 29, 2019, will be a low-key affair. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who disclosed this, said a number of the events slated for the inauguration will now be held during the first observance of June 12 as the National Democracy Day. Buhari had last year declared June 12 as Democracy Day and invested late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola posthumously with the nation’s highest national honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR). The two chambers of the National Assembly had passed a resolution supporting Buhari’s declaration, thus the country’s Democracy Day was changed to June 12, from May 29. Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) slugged it out the presidential election with Alhaji Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention (NRC) on June 12, 1993. He said, however, that invitations have been sent to all world leaders to attend the ceremonies marking the observance of the Democracy Day on June 12.
