According to Ogungbemi, he alleged that the suspended members were found to be using their offices to seek funds from opposition parties for themselves.

Stating that their act was against the party’s constitution, the chairman also alleged that the suspended members had at various occasions made attempts to suspend him, after his refusal to join them in the act.

“I cautioned them to stop seeking funds around, all in the name of the party, since they refused, they came to me that they wanted to go and take money from the governor in order to offer him their support.

“They met with someone in Tinubu’s camp, they went to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and even the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman. I said I will not join them and they decided to lie against me, to get me out of the way.

“The national chairman called me to put my house in order or I will be in trouble,” he stated.

Defending himself, Ogungbemi said all the allegations levelled against him were false, adding that the affected party officials once disrupted the meeting where a seven-man committee was about to be setup for reconciliation process.
